Iron Chef

Day 24, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Brigade HQ.

Today, Saf, another old brigade member, challenged Akira for the title of the brigade's cook.

I personally believe Akira will win due to his extensive experience in cooking. Saf might throw a few curveballs however, as he is the brigade's chief creative influence.

Main Suspect

Captain Dynamo is still missing and we haven't received word from him after the assassination attempt on the doctor. Strong evidence against him leads us to believe that he was the assassin. All of his equipment is gone from his room and he is the only one to withdraw a Swivel Shot rifle from the guild's armory during the time frame. As much as I hate the thought of it I can't disagree, he is our main suspect at the moment. During our investigation; we looked through the doctor's files to try and find a motive behind Dynamo's assault on the doctor, if it is him that is. We did find something interesting, Patient Profile A-266, although the doctor did warn us about Dynamo's split personalities on his initial reports this file describes in detail the research and information the doctor had accumulated on Dynamo's condition and his split personalities. We believe from the files that the doctor was close to curing Dynamo of his affliction, although we won't know for sure till the doctor awakens but it provides us with a possible motive of why he was assaulted. From the file we deduce Dynamo's split personality Dynamic Edge is responsible.

Although something about this is bugging me...the weapon of choice doesn't fit...

Spy? Assassin?

Lead Security Officer Imagin reporting on the current situation. Around midnight a gun shot was heard in the lower compounds of the brigade facility. I sent a couple of my men to investigate the situation telling them to use the utmost caution. A few minutes later, one of my men contacted me on my reciever asking to me to send down a medic to the medical labs. Dr. Healzalot was found critically injured in his office in the medical labs, a near fatal gunshot wound in his chest 2 inches away from his vitals. We found him bleeding intensively from a bullet wound in his chest. The medic managed to extract the bullet from his chest and stop the bleeding but it doesn't look like hes gonna wake up any time soon. His condition seems to be stabilizing, thank god we made it when we did or else...We need to figure out who this assassin is.

In the morning after the incident involving in the near fatal wound inflicted upon Dr. Healzalot we analyzed the bullet extracted from the doctor. A special combination bullet normally used to store a poison injector or an explosive round. The bullet was thankfully a dud though and the explosive contents within the bullet did not detonate. Luckily the doctor fell behind his desk shielding him from any further attempt to finish the job by the assassin before security could arrive. We did manage to find something this morning that we overlooked last night, a bloody note scribbled on the wall by the doctor in his own blood...

We have no idea what the doctor's bloody scribble means, we might have to wait till he awakens...In other news, Captain Leget Dynamo is missing from his room and he hasn't checked in yet...

The prototype steam pack is gone! After that incident that shook the barracks last night the assassin must have made off with my steam pack! I can't go into too much detail but...the steam pack hooks up with any steam based armor to provide a boost in performance that can range from increased strength and speed of the armor. UGH this is gonna set me back months in my research! It must have been an Elerd spy!

Day 18, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Garden of Riall.

"The Garden itself was beautiful, but rumors warned me that looks were deceiving. The garden, it seemed, was the ruins of in my belief and old building of some sort. The ruined signs of the four sides of the building and various crumbling colonnades separate the garden into two areas. The inside area, was surrounded by an illuminating red field of energy of some sort, and seemed to when entered causes aggressive tendencies. The garden was a site for both nations to enjoy, but when one passes the boundary, one has an irresistible urge to kill the members of the other nation. No aggression was observed when two members of the same nation entered the red field. It seems like the source of aggression is strongly links down to the bloodline.

It was also interesting to find that once one extinguishes an individual, their life essence becomes encapsulated in the form of a crystalline lattice. And the individual themselves are reanimated at the garden entrance, as if they were ghosts caught in an endless loop, doomed to wander the garden. I started gathering them from those that fell in battle. This place... whether strange it maybe, has peaked my interest."

It Gives You Wings

Day 18, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Republic of Rogwel.

I recently volunteered myself for "testing" for a bit of extra money.

When they were finished, I found myself with a gimpy pair of wings attached to my back. Seriously, what the hell did they do? They're not even physically attached. They float a couple inches away and seriously get in the way sometimes when I'm trying to change clothes.

For some reason though, I am able to train for longer periods of time. These wings sure are weird...

Lock n Load

Day 13, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Greticos.

Test #9 Conclusion:

Explosive properties applied to swords have been ineffective, if not detrimental. Application to shield is yet to be found practical as a steam tank can not be fitted without reducing the shield's integrity. However, bullets have proven to be a useful device to deliver payloads. Coated with rendin on all sides but the front, only an impact will detonate the bullet.

I shall be using a gun from now on to maximize explosive potential.

Concerns About Dynamo

Patient Profile A-266

Medical ID #: 1007091989

Cptn. Leget Dynamo

The captain has grown unstable I fear, I have recently diagnose Leget Dynamo with split personality disorder. The symptoms first started upon his return from a scouting mission into the Dimensional Rift in Riall. The captain has been displaying troubling signs of mental instability over the past week now and I fear it is only getting worse.

So far I have been able to diagnose several of his split personalities...

The first calls himself Lockdown Stratosphere, he is very cautious and avoids combat at all costs unless required; a silent man of few words. He seems to have an extensive knowledge of gizmology and is said to be skilled with a rifle.

The second calls himself the Dynamic Edge. He is very aggressive, reckless, bloodthirsty, and egoistic; he prefers to wield 2 handed weapons. This split personality is by far the most interesting as he share the same name as the infamous sky pirate, Dynamic Edge, that was supposedly killed years ago. I had an opportunity to talk with the new Dynamic Edge who openly boasted that he was the very same Dynamic Edge. I am not sure I believe this or not but if this startling piece of information is true...Leget Dynamo's condition might have existed back further than I believed. Perhaps, although this is just speculation at this point, Leget Dynamo is the split personality of the Dynamic Edge.

I came to the conclusion that the Dimensional Rift isn't the cause to Dynamo's condition but rather a catalyst. Further observation required, until then I recommend Cptn. Dynamo be restricted to duties around the brigade barracks.

An Early Arrival

Day 11, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Republic of Rogwel.

Everybody woke up this morning to cries of "FIRE IN THE WAREHOUSE!" With much difficulty, we managed to put out the flames. Startling enough, nothing was damaged. Even more surprising was that we found fiery, glowing wings. Was it a trap set by Elerd? How could they have gotten past sentries? I picked up a pair and found that it did not burn my hand as a smarter person might have foreseen. I proceeded to put them on my back, where they set off the fuses to every single bomb in my bag. Immediately throwing them into the sea, I was drenched by a massive wave that it caused.

Looking back, the bombs should not have caused such a large explosion. Granted, there should have been a large wave, but it should not nearly empty Diren's harbor. I might have to experiment with the fiery properties of these wings.

A Steampunk Story! Tales of the Steam. Chapter 1: Destiny's Cry

While waiting for the launch, why not sit down to a nice story? hmm?

Drops of warm rain hit the metal houses, making a soothing melody spread throughout the city. The Republic's industrial might, a normally monstrous, intimidating presence has been put aside by the soothing rain. People scurry through the streets, trying to flee nature's wet embrace. If one we're to look up towards the buildings of the town square, you can see a man standing on a balcony, staring to the sky. This is man is no ordinary sight, no no. He is rather well dressed then most people on the street, yet more so covered in soot and dirt than the typical street urchin.
His head is covered with a hat ordained with fascinating instruments, like something only told in fairy tales. He clutches and glares at a pocket watch almost obsessively as if time itself were trying to sneak away.

He is an inventor. A glamorous profession with in the Republic that is often sought after, but never achieved. A person that is highly regarded as an architect to modern society and expected to keep the wheels of industry turning. It is this great man, staring into the rain like it was calling to him, soaking in the drops that hits his body. Suddenly, another inventor appears from the house. Gazing at the other with bewilderment and avoiding the weather like the plague.

"Don't you just love this weather Lucien? It's not everyday we get rain over here. It's so wonderful!"
Said the excited inventor. "Are you kidding Gabriel? All the rain is good for causing rust." Lucien grunts. "Oh Lucien, you are such a pessimist. It's always gloom this and doom that with you. Why don't you loosen up once in while?" Shouts Gabriel. "Because it's the only thing that keeps on course Little Brother." Lucien replies. "Hahaha, alright, you have a good point. Let's get back to work shall we?"
The Galvatinni brothers are renown inventors far across the world. The amount of contributions towards the republic's might has been countless, any many rival inventors seek to match and surpass them. They are not very concerned with appearances however. The Galvatinni workshop is littered with gizmos and gadgets, Cogs and Sprockets, pistons and piping, as far as the eye can see. Remnants of their past genius is spread through the workshop, as well as they're numerous blunders, like the 3 chambered coffee pot, a device that brewed coffee at twice the speed and powered by steam. The compound pressure caused an mass explosion. Litigation is still being made.

But the attention of the brothers seem to be focused on one invention. An invention shrouded in mystery and only known by the leader of the republic. The workshop is guarded by republic soldiers and only people can enter by invitation only. The most curious however claim to have seen a giant metal arm from the street window.

"This is our greatest invention Lucien! Just a few more tweaks and we can finally turn this beauty on! Aren't you just filled with excitement?!" Shouted Gabriel. "I would be lying if i said i wasn't excited. I just think we should run a few more tests with the energy transfer system." Lucien replies. "Oh Pish posh. We already tested it twice! It works fine! Don't be so paranoid!" assures Gabriel "I just think that haphazardly messing with a new energy source is a bit foolish Gabriel. That is all."

The brothers are interrupted by a knock at the door. Gabriel opens the door to see a gaudy dressed man with a ledger in his hand. It is the appointed emissary from the Senate in charge of overseeing the project, joined side by side with Republican Guardsmen. "Hello gentlemen. I trust the project is ready for its first test run?" asked the emissary. "Ready as ever! All we need to do is pull this level here and we can start the test!" said the excited Gabriel. "No disrespect sir, but i think we need to do so more work on the energy transfer system before we start the initial test phase. The system seems a bit unstable and..."

"Now now, sir Lucien. The Senate expressed great interest in this project and any more delays will make him most displeased."
interrupted the emissary. "I know, but the Senate would probably like it if..." "The Senate would like it if the project were finished on schedule. Your brother seems to think its ready and i trust his judgment. Unless you can show me physical evidence that more work on the energy system is needed, the test goes on as planned." Explains the emissary. "Yes...but..." Lucien cries. "Enough of this. Gabriel Galvatinni, please start the initial test phase by order of the Senate"

"Yes sir!" shouts Gabriel.
The lever is pulled. Suddenly the large blanketed object starts to glow a bright, incandescent blue. The object starts to shake, and the large metal hand starts to move. "Yes!" exclaims the emissary. "The Senate will be most pleased! Most pleased!" Suddenly darkness. Every inch of light is swallowed. Everything is quiet, until a great light encompasses the room. A great force whips the inventors across the room and ignites everything in a furious blaze. The greatest explosion the city has ever known rips through the city like a tidal wave and reduces the Great Galvatinni workshop into mere black cinders. The rumble could be felt across the land."OK Sir Lucien...your physical evidence is very...compelling. Please...repair the energy system and report to the head office for another test..." The Emissary collapses in a large pile of ash and the Guardsmen trying to collect him and themselves from the rubble. The rain continues to fall on the ruins of the workshop as if it were divine practical joke. "This is why i hate the rain Gabriel."

End of Chapter 1.

The Art of Stealth

Day 10, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Diren.

'"I have found that a scientist like myself is quite the vulnerable being when going out to collect samples. While wandering the streets of Diren looking for supplies for my studies, I spotted a posting on the local town bulletin board, "Nightstalker's Training classes for Novices- Move around unseen, and take down your prey in one swoop" it said. Quite the temptation for me. There is only so much I can do with this gun of mine against the unknown species of this continent. If I were to learn to travel unseen, it would make finding and obtaining samples for my experiments oh the much easier. hmmm."

Storage Shenanigans

Day 9, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Warehouse.

Akiriana began organizing our warehouse today. Of course, this is an impossible task for someone to manage by himself, so the whole brigade had to help out. Things weren't organized whatsoever. The only person who had anything organized whatsoever was Fay. I guess she didn't want her underwear stolen. We'll probably be busy at this for a few more days. Some people have so much stuff lying around that we could outfit a fireteam with it.
In addition, what is with all these stockpiles of iron, leather, and crystals? What in the world could possibly use all of this? We should recruit more people. Maybe they could help.

-Count Inyou

P.S. Storm needs to not leave his Variable Oils out. Someone might think they're lubricants.

Note to self: Figure out why Fay has cucumbers.

What a Motley Crue we are! pt. 2

Day 9, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Republic of Rogwel.

-Fay Nitori
Fay is extremely experienced with magic. She said that she began practicing mass use of projectiles more than 10 years ago and began employing Spell Cards as a means to create large numbers of projectiles several years ago. Not only that, she is able to dodge nearly everything we can throw at her, even her own spells. Even when it looks like she's hit, she reflects it 9000-fold. She seldom takes a hit, but when she does, it's often serious.

-Squire Storm
Storm may be just a squire, but he's extremely dangerous. His speed and skill with blades complemented by his skill in stealth can dispatch any person who gives him an opening. I don't really know all that much about him even though he's one of my favorite people to hang around.

Storm and Fay are good friends that met up back when they first enlisted in the war back home. They're my favorite people talk to, for fun and/or serious matters.

Consolation Prize

Day 4, 6th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Riall Gardens.

Day 4 of the new moon, I received orders to deliver a message to all Elerd in the Gardens at all costs. I was told it was crucial to our advantage in the war. Setting out for the garden at once, I decided that the best method was to sneak in quietly and sneak back out. Donning borrowed camouflage, I slowly crept into the midst of the main Elerd force. Just as I was placing the message, I was caught by an Evoker.
I don't know what hit me, but as I fell to the floor, I caught a glimpse of the message. The last thing I remember before blacking out is feeling a dull sense of satisfaction.

Dabbl'n with Biological Warfare

Day 30, 5th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Garnedine.

After a thorough expedition of the native plant and insect life, one could be curious as to how these strange organisms tick. On the old continent, there were no mobile plant life, and the population of insects tend to stay at high altitude, which were the cause of many airship malfunction as insects would get into the air uptake of our ships.

It's maddening to know that even with all the advance of technology brought about by Neosteam, not much research is being done of Biotechnologies and Chemical warefares, especially with such an abundance of compounds that can be isolated from the wildlife here. It seems like I should look into this, hmm....

Volanthrope - Biological Weapons Specialist.

Submarine Shenanigans

Day 29, 5th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Garnedine.

Today, the submarine suffered a failure. A misguided bomb machine blew open a porthole on the starboard side. The explosion not only damaged the submarine, but a portion of the tunnel as well. I was washed up somewhere around Rope Island, and the fate of the submariner is unknown.

These newfangled bomb machines still need some tinkering. There's really nothing as reliable as a good, old, standard bomb. For some reason, they call them Living Bombs here.

What the!?

Log: unknown. Location: unknown.

"WHERE'S MY ITEMS!?," as I was screaming when I woke up. Must've had some kind of a warp anomaly here. The last time I remembered was that I was taking a nap inside the Terrawhale. I know I was taking a nap because I was dreaming about this universe called Atlus and I was at Endless World with all the time anomaly things. Guess when the gates got fixed, I got warped back to reality with all my stuff gone. Well, I guess I have to start from scratch from all over again. My plane's gone, my weapons are gone, I got separated from the brigade. Geez, what a day. The only thing I have would be these normal clothes awhile back when we first got warped to this universe. I want to shout "TIME PARADOX!" already.

Man, what a pain.

-Excellion

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Heck of a first log.

Darkness.

There was a throbbing pain in my head, as well as a feeling that I'd been run down by several stagecoaches, then beaten up by the drivers. This wasn't that unusual of a way for me to begin my day, but the headache had a foreboding quality to it, unlike the headaches that when you get them, you know full well why and/or what you did.

"Hey! Are you all right? Wake up!"

I grudgingly opened my eyes, and realized I wasn't dead, like I'd thought. I was lying on the ground right in the middle of the Garnedine plaza. The one who'd spoken was a Taxn girl was standing over me, looking concerned, and nearby I could see some of the other Bakas similarly recollecting their wits.

"Uh...I'm fine. Thanks."

I attempted to stand up, but my legs and feet didn't want to just yet. I managed to drag myelf to a sitting position.
Hadn't Inyou just blown up the steam tank? Hadn't it wiped out most of the city? I frantically whippped my gaze around to-

A shiny, unexploded Steam Tank.

What had happened? The town appeared to be normal, and most of itz citizens appeared to be going about business as usual.
We still don't know that much about Neo Steam, and apparently that includes the extent of its volatility.
Maybe it generated enough force to rip a hole in space-time? I'd seen it happen before, back home...the Island Dream Anomaly, or the G-ARK catastrophe.

Ah, now there was something - my things were gone. Our lodge in the Residential District (we call it Robot House) was as we'd left it - right after we'd moved in and unpacked, on the first day we'd arrived on Rogwel.

Aki has it right, basically; we'll have to start all over.

I wonder if this a parallel universe, or the past?
Maybe I can win some money on tournament bets this week...

This colossal bi-pedal machine is the Suppressor. Twin cannons powered by four Neo Steam tanks fire explosive rounds that are capable of exterminating infantry at the pilot's discretion. The spherical cockpit is perfectly engineered to deflect attacks from any angle.

This vehicle is the All Terrain Buggy. Custom crafted from an Off-road Buggy by none other than myself, it is capable of traversing all forms of non-aquatic terrain.

It seems that we're not the first to get swallowed by the Terrawhale. It seems to be a commonplace. Report on local fauna

21st day, 5th month of the calendar year. Location: Outside Garnedine

Every venture outside Garnedine faces us with constant attacks from the local wildlife. It is curious to why this is, but my educated hypothesis is that the local creatures are attracted too and are reacting to the large amounts of Neo Steam residing in the area. It seems to have strange effects on the plant and insect life. At least we're not getting attacked by 15 foot bees.

This however, leaves us with an opportunity to hone our hand to hand combat skills. All that time in the air, and you forget how to engage in proper fisticuffs. Took me awhile to get my gun working though. I felt like an idiot trying to put Neo Steam in it.

Photobucket

ADDITION:
We've also encountered more sophisticated hostiles, like thieves and mecha wielding maniacs. Also almost bought the farm when we accidentally stumbled upon a crazed local on a steam walker. I shall take more precautions when venturing out.

FINAL NOTE: To my surprise, and somewhat unease, our fearless leader decided he was going to come after all. He's set up proper facilities and its just a matter of us getting back to him. Apparently the Brigade roster is half full. We need to make sure we get in touch soon. Unfortunately, some of our men returned home due to unforeseen circumstances. Let's hope they keep place clean when we come back home. It's a shame they want to leave, but in the end it is their decision.

Terrawhale

Day 21. 5th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Terrawhale

Photobucket

The Terrawhale is an enormous creature to the north of Garnedine in the Living Jungle. It's sneeze generates gale-force winds capable of serving as a form of travel. Covered inside and out by moss and rocks, it is essentially a living piece of land. If swallowed whole, you may either exit by striking its uvula or proceeding along the digestive tract. Be warned, if you decide to proceed along the digestive tract, a number of strange creatures live inside of the Terrawhale. Do NOT go alone, and do NOT go unprepared.

Pushing limits

Day 21. 5th Month of the Universal Calendar. Location: Garnedine, Primary HQ Office

...The crews finally got their butts in gear and received their assigned missions. For a full seven hours after their departure I continually slaved over pages and people and maps gathering the necessities for our new encampment. Damn these boys for giving me attitude about a rusty ship. As long as the thing flies they should keep their traps shut. The administration has gone to the dogs today and if we're going to make any headway on keeping this brigade on solid ground we'll be needing a stronger set of nuts. This was war...
...finally, at three in the morning, when I collapsed exhausted upon my chair, a glass of cheap brandy in hand, the phone rang. It was the guild president calling. The brigade was allowed thirty men tops and was to be housed in a decrepit hostel on the east side of Garnedine. Barely, enough to put the standard six squadron team we had back in the old days. Sneeringly, he informed me I had the option to add 10 more men to the unit at a cost. Seven million, no more no less. I uttered my "goodbye" through clenched teeth and dropped the receiver back on its cradle. Gotta start somewhere...

Friendly Fire

Day 21. 5th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Garnedine

Our first battle in the new continent led to the Rip's injury. I would personally like to say he fell valiantly in battle, but he's not dead, and it was our own side's friendly fire which did it. We probably should have gotten readjusted to firm ground first, as he was walking a bit awkwardly.

Either way, it was a rather serious injury and he might be unable to do, well, anything, for a while.

Get well soon, Rip.

Out of the frying pan, and into the fryer.

Day 21, 5th month of the universal calendar. Location: Garnedine

The large doors opened finally in the morning and we ventured out into the town. We then overheard some troubling news. The nation of Rogwel, is at war with it's neighbor. It seems as if our intel was incorrect as to the region's hostility. It was a bit outdated however. We should have taken extra precautions going in.

The worst part is, the nation is rationing its supply of fuel. This will make getting resources difficult indeed.

The others are still recovering from their trip on the ship. I decided to go a explore the outings of the city with the merchant who was on board the transport. I will report back any new findings.

New Recruits

Day 20. 5th Month of the Standard Calendar 20th hour. Location: Primary HQ Office.

... they're either way reckless or too inexperienced to put on any worthwhile mission. Obviously I couldn't have these liabilities running the good fliers. The best thing to do with such a ragtag bunch was of course to stick em on a scrapper and send them off to deliver pickles and peanuts. Its exactly how I learnt the trade and it's damn gonna be how they will. Nonetheless, however obnoxious and puppy-eyed they may be, they do seem to have potential to be a good crew. Reckless, young, but full of energy. You don't get that often any more in this drudging dead slow economy. Hopefully the Lieutenant will keep them in line for this next mission...

Wealth on the Horizon

Day 20. 5th Month of the Standard Calendar 20th hour. Location: Transport, docked.

...My vessels smell they say... Well, this airship was meant only for the transport of preserved goods. They can only blame themselves for hiring a merchant ship to bring them here. They should be well damn grateful I allowed them to come along. If they weren't on board I would have more room for more goods. Bahh... ever since the tide of the war on the Phillon continent became in favor of the rebels, its impossible to sell my wares to the Empires without being attacked by the bloody bastards. Hopefully this continent brings new wealth to my pockets and maybe I'll get this beauty of an airship in tiptop shape again...*Takes a deep breath*.. [Damn it does smell in here..]

-Volgrypan Yotitts [Merchant].

So close...and yet so far...

Day 20. 5th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location:Wouldn't you know it? Still on the ship...

So, the transport has landed. This is great news right? Wrong. The main doors are still locked and the once crappy ventilation from the passing air when we were flying has now stopped and made it worse.

I'm trying to hail the bridge to see what it wrong, but all i'm getting is "Server Not Found. Closing Neo Steam. (Code 10057)" What in blazes does that mean?! I want to get off this ship!

Waiting for the Go Ahead

Day 20. 5th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Transport Ship (hell)

Well, we've landed, but we've been waiting for hours to get the go ahead to actually disembark.

If this section is unreadable, blame motion sickness. The rest of the brig hasn't had it too bad, but I've been sick from the get-go, and the smell is in no way helping. Even when we're docked it's just swaying back and forth and back and forth.

I need to get off this ship and have a smoke with some fresh air. I found out that Grin played the triangle when I tried to light one. You wouldn't believe where he threatened to put it.

This little slice of hell is going straight back to where it came from after I'm well enough to wire explosives.

-Count Inyou

P.S. Tell Baka that if he wants it he can go down there and get it himself.
P.P.S. Paraphrase that. I don't want to be sent down there. My explosives go off without warning down there.

Can’t wait to get off this thing.

Day 20. 5th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Damned Transport, nearly docked.

Airship stinks, flight is taking forever, half asleep, back is still killing me, hungry, are we there yet?
At least the view is nice, though I would prefer to be flying this thing.
The pilot’s kinda scruffy, he’s got these aviator goggles that are pretty cool, a scarf, leather jacket and cap, probably used to flying without a complete cockpit. Heck, he looks like he jumped straight out of those old books, you know, with the flying, and the war thing.

The brigade is doing ok here, though I saw Inyou heading to the bathroom with his hand over his mouth, can’t really blame him, smells terrible.

Grin’s doing his thing, I heard he used to play percussion back before he joined the military, seems like he would play a timpani or a bass drum to me.

Kojus is drawing something, blueprint maybe. He pretty much brought this whole thing up. Though I heard the continents down south had some treasure, delicious treasure. Kojus is ok though, he can never just sit and relax, always has to be drawing, writing, cooking, fighting, or at least thinking. But, he’s reliable, for sure, and loyal to the brig. Guess I am too if I may say so myself. Heck, ever since I met him he’s always ready for whatever’s next, and he’s willing to pave the way.

And lets not forget about captain fancypants, the “Sky Admiral” Baka. he’s the leader and the one who officially sent us over here. pretty good, has a sense of humor, great guy, but the cheap SOB couldn't provide a better transport? Out of all the ships docked, we get this piece of crap?!

Been with the brigade for a while, ups and downs, but it’s all good. Hopefully things will get easier down here.

Well we’re all just waiting, I heard the weather is a bit nicer, cleaner air too, maybe that’ll do this body some good.

P.S: wow, I heard we’ll be landing soon.
Finally, I need some fresh air

-Shottington, Rip

What a Motley Crue we are!

Day 20. 5th Month of the Standard Calendar. Location: Still on this damned transport.

Along for the journey are my brothers in arms. Most of us come from privileged families or have gained status through the legendary exploits in battle.

-Lord Rip Shottington
Shottington is somewhat of an Eccentric. If he's not picking off enemy troops from a mile a way, he's hunting for wild game in the jungles near our hometown. He claims that he killed a bear with his bare hands. You know those goofy explorer novels that are a coin a dozen? Shottington is the epitome of those. We met during the academy. I was with some other cadets enjoying drinks when we saw him trying to court with every woman holding a martini glass. He didn't get a single one. I walked up to him and told him he needs to work on his lines. He then punched me in the jaw, that cheeky bastard. We fought and fought til the city watchmen threw us in the brig. Woke up with a sharp pain in my mouth and some broken ribs. Ahh...Good times.

-Lord Hengrin
Hengrin comes from a family of famous musicians back in the old country. The reason he joined the military is beyond me. He never really talks about it, but we get a bunch of snot nosed messenger types knocking on our door looking for him, so it's probably family trouble or some such. We usually say he's on a Sortie, but that's usually a lie. I guess the musical timing is good for something though. Hengrin is one of our country's best dog fighters, able to maneuver and attack at just the right time. Me and Shot met him outside the bar, busking for some change. Not that he needed it, but perhaps he had an alternate motive. After a few tries, we convinced him to join us inside and we've been friends ever since. He always carries that violin with him where ever he goes though. Even during battle, even as I'm sitting here now. It does lighten the mood a bit. We have a bet going to see if he has something hidden in that violin of his.

-Count Inyou
Our group's demolitions expert. Never one to be subtle with his craft, Inyou makes every target a show for the eyes. He once told me, "Blowing up an airship
is like making love to a beautiful woman. Touching any old place will just piss her off. You need to find her pleasure spot, go in, and then knock her off her feet!" Inyou is also a horrible chain smoker, and I've told him many times that its gonna get him killed. Not by smoking them mind you, but actually blowing himself up by smoking near his explosives. I met him shortly after i joined Bakatenshi. He accidentally blew up our favorite bar after we took him there for the first time. The drinks never have tasted as good ever since...=(

-Lieutenant Runyst
The Lieutenant isn't much of a talker so i don't know that much about him. He only talks when he needs to, and when he does, let's just say that the situation we're in, is now very dire. From what i know, He was one of the original founders of the Brigade and usually handles internal affairs. He's supposedly from some backwater town out in the middle of nowhere which would explain his peculiar name. Have i also mentioned that he's one large man? He once picked us all up dragged us into our planes without breaking a sweat. Bit of a hard ass really, but I'm sure we're alive because of him.

Since we're now a separate unit from the main Brigade. We all decided that we needed a new name. How about Dai-Baka? It's based off a popular moving picture series back home, so not exactly original. I wonder if anyone will get the reference over here?

Day before touchdown

Day 20. 5th Month of Standard Calendar. Location: Hot, Humid, Rank, Transport Craft. Smells awful.

It has been a few weeks since we've left our homeland far to the north. We flee the war torn countryside that is our home and set out to seek fame and glory elsewhere. Two Nations. Gripped in an aerial arms race of mass proportions, all in the efforts to gain complete dominance of the land. It's all silly I say, but not all countrymen share my views.

As the technology for better craft heightened, so did the increasing casualties. The only way to make it in the land was to enlist and serve under the controlling Empire. Young and Old, determined to sign their life away for some money, increased the numbers of able soldiers yes, but put a strain on resources for the capitol. So it was decided by our brigade leader, that some of us were to set up shop in a neutral country and send resources back to aid the war effort.

So here we are, stuck in this horribly ventilated dirigible. Waiting to touch land once again. Eager to set foot on the land of Rogwell. It's not that we crave the land. Bakatenshi is a brigade of airship pilots after all. Our home is the sky. No sir, its more than that. It's the excitement and determination that makes us eager.....IS that fermented cabbage i smell???!!! Strike that...Forget everything i said earlier. We want to get off this ship because it smells like Brimstone laced with aged cheese.
